In-Game Financial Services for Play-to-Earn Players
A DeFi money market built specifically for play-to-earn game ecosystems, allowing players to collateralize their in-game assets and earnings for stablecoin loans without selling — creating price stability and financial inclusion for gaming economies.

Players in games like Axie Infinity earn in-game tokens (e.g., SLP) but must sell them to convert to fiat for everyday expenses, creating constant selling pressure that drives token price instability. This business would build an Aave/Compound-style lending protocol natively within a play-to-earn ecosystem — players deposit their earned tokens or NFT assets as collateral and draw stablecoin loans to cover living expenses, never triggering a taxable sale event and reducing sell pressure on the ecosystem's token.
The TAM is significant: 25% of Axie's users (per the video) don't have bank accounts, making traditional financial services inaccessible. A native, in-ecosystem lending market could serve as both a financial inclusion tool and a stabilization mechanism for the game economy. Revenue comes from interest rate spread (borrower rate minus depositor yield). This is essentially what Jiho himself identified as the next thing Axie should build on the Ronin chain — creating a clear first-mover opportunity for a third-party builder.

03 THE VERDICT
The problem is real and Jiho explicitly called it out as something Axie wants to build — meaning there's clear demand signal from the ecosystem itself. However, NFT/game-token collateralized lending has a brutal track record in bear markets, and smart contract risk is existential. Best opportunity for a third-party builder who can build this faster than Axie's internal team and capture the first-mover advantage on Ronin or a similar chain. Requires significant technical and financial expertise — not a beginner build.
