01 THE IDEA

The idea is a 'Log in with Influencer' button for e-commerce stores — shoppers connect their social accounts, and the system evaluates their follower count/engagement to automatically qualify them for discounts, early access, or free products. This gamifies influencer gifting and automates what brands currently do manually through DM outreach.

During the conversation, both hosts agreed the consumer-facing version (where shoppers check if they qualify) risks alienating the majority who don't. The more viable pivot is a B2B scraping/outreach tool: identify social profiles in a brand's niche, enrich them with follower data, and proactively send personalized offers — turning it into an influencer gifting automation platform rather than a checkout widget.

03 THE VERDICT

The checkout widget version has a fundamental UX problem (alienating non-qualifying shoppers) that the hosts themselves identified, and Shopify Collabs has already commoditized basic influencer gifting natively. The outreach automation pivot is more viable but enters a crowded market where Grin, Aspire, and others are well-capitalized. Without a truly differentiated angle, this is a tough build with significant platform risk.
