01 THE IDEA

Traditional banks underwrite credit based on W2 income and credit history, leaving high-earning creators with absurdly low credit limits and no access to loans. A YouTuber making $1M/year can have a $5,000 credit limit at Bank of America. The opportunity is to build a neobank that underwrites based on creator-specific signals — platform revenue, subscriber growth, engagement metrics, and recurring sponsorship income — rather than traditional FICO/W2 criteria.

The wedge product is a credit card with limits that reflect actual creator income. From there the platform can expand into business banking, tax tools, invoicing, revenue advances, and expense management. The addressable market includes millions of full-time creators globally, and the CAC is low because creator communities are tight-knit and word-of-mouth spreads fast. Carat (getcarot.com) has already validated this concept, proving there is genuine demand.

03 THE VERDICT

The pain point is real and validated — high-earning creators genuinely cannot access credit that matches their income. Carat proved the concept exists but the space is far from saturated. The BaaS infrastructure stack makes it feasible without a banking license. Distribution via creator communities is efficient and organic. The main risk is regulatory complexity and capital requirements for a credit product, but a card-first wedge is achievable with a BaaS partner.
