INDEX / ACQUISITION
Productivity App Roll-Up (HoldCo)
A holding company that acquires dormant but profitable productivity apps, bundles them under a single subscription, and distributes them via content creator partnerships.

The concept is a Microsoft Office-style bundle for indie productivity apps — habits trackers, journaling tools, focus timers, keyboard apps, etc. — acquired cheaply from indie developers who have stopped actively maintaining them. Many of these apps are generating passive revenue but receiving minimal updates. By rolling them up, centralizing AI-assisted development, and offering one subscription, you reduce churn and increase LTV.
Distribution is the key unlock: partnering with productivity-focused YouTube creators (who already drive significant organic sales to these apps) gives the holdco a massive CAC advantage. The 'buy vs. build' framing is deliberate — going from zero to traction on a new app is slow; acquiring an app with existing reviews, users, and app store ranking skips that valley. The Clack keyboard app example ($5 app, dormant, but still beloved and selling) is cited as a perfect acquisition target: cheap to buy, zero marginal cost to serve, and viral by nature.

03 THE VERDICT
This is one of the most capital-efficient roll-up strategies available today — many quality apps can be acquired for $10K-$100K, distribution via creator partnerships is proven, and the bundle subscription model reduces churn. The key risk is overpaying or acquiring apps with hidden technical debt. Starting with one cheap acquisition (like the Clack example) to learn the process before scaling is the right move.
