Remotion-Based Programmatic Video Ad Generator

01 THE IDEA

Remotion is an open-source library that renders videos programmatically using React/code, and when integrated into a Claude Code workflow, it allows AI to generate video ads—with custom fonts, brand colors, copy, and multiple aspect ratios (landscape, square, vertical)—directly from the terminal with a single prompt. The speaker demonstrated this live, creating a polished product-demo style ad in approximately 30 minutes of iteration from a free GitHub template.

The business opportunity is offering this as either a managed service (agency model: we build your video ad campaign in Claude Code) or a SaaS tool where businesses input their brand info and get a library of video ad variations. The key insight is that traditional video ad production is expensive ($2,000–$20,000 per video), slow, and requires specialized talent—this stack collapses that to nearly zero marginal cost per variation, enabling unlimited A/B testing of creatives.

The Remotion + Claude Code combination for programmatic video ads is genuinely novel and the cost-to-value ratio is compelling, but the space is getting crowded with better-funded AI video startups. The real opportunity is as an agency service rather than a standalone SaaS—using this stack to undercut competitors on price for local businesses or DTC brands. Building a product around it requires enough technical sophistication that the moat may be thin once more no-code AI video tools mature.
