Typeshare is a SaaS tool built specifically for people who are learning to write online. It provides atomic essay templates, formatting tools, and publishing infrastructure so that the friction of 'how do I format and publish this' is eliminated for beginners. The product was built by an indie developer (Sam Shore) who was discovered through Twitter after building an early version during Ship 30 cohorts, then brought into a co-founder partnership with Dickie Bush and Nicolas Cole.
The genius of the model is the flywheel: Ship 30 for 30 (the cohort course) acts as a continuous pipeline of warm, motivated customers for Typeshare. Every Ship 30 graduate is essentially a pre-qualified Typeshare lead. This education-to-SaaS funnel means Typeshare has low customer acquisition cost and high intent users, a structure that is rare and highly capital-efficient. The business is bootstrapped, lean, and positioned to expand as writing online becomes an increasingly mainstream professional activity.

The education-to-SaaS flywheel is the real insight here and it's highly replicable in other niches. Build a cohort course that teaches a skill, embed your own SaaS tool as the recommended infrastructure, and let course alumni become your best salespeople. The standalone SaaS is a reasonable business, but the bundled model is exceptional. Any new entrant should think about what course + tool combination they can build in a vertical where this flywheel doesn't yet exist.
