The core idea discussed is building infrastructure that transforms Web2 communities — like Facebook groups or Discord servers — into co-owned entities. Community admins and members would receive tokens representing ownership stakes, enabling them to vote on group decisions, share in ad or commerce revenue, and accumulate appreciating assets rather than just renting space from a platform. The analogy used is moving from renting to owning: today's community organizers do enormous unpaid labor for Facebook's benefit, while this platform would redirect value capture to the community itself.
The platform would need to handle three main pain points: (1) financial upside for community managers, (2) democratic governance for major decisions like mergers or rule changes, and (3) viral growth incentives through shared ownership. This is essentially a DAO-as-a-service layer for non-technical community builders, abstracting away the complexity of token issuance, voting contracts, and treasury management into a consumer-friendly UI.

The thesis is sound and the market gap is real — billions of people in Web2 communities who get no economic upside. However, execution is brutally hard: Web3 UX remains a massive barrier, regulatory risk around tokens is real, and the 2022-2023 crypto winter washed out most early entrants. Best angle is building a 'Shopify for DAOs' with a focus on non-crypto-native community builders, waiting for L2 abstraction to mature further. High ceiling, high risk.
