▶ WATCH THE SOURCE SEGMENT — AI marketing Masterclass: From beginner to expert in 60 minutes01 THE IDEA
Claude Code 'skills' are essentially deep instruction manuals—markdown files loaded with expert frameworks, references, and taste—that dramatically improve AI output quality for specific tasks. The speaker built 17 of these himself, drawing on classic copywriters (Eugene Schwartz, Claude Hopkins), DTC ad research, and proprietary positioning frameworks. A skills marketplace would let domain experts monetize their knowledge by packaging it into skills that non-experts can drop into their own Claude Code environments.
The business model could be a one-time purchase per skill ($50–$200), a bundle/subscription ($50–$150/month), or a white-label option for agencies. The moat is the quality and specificity of the expert knowledge baked in—generic AI-generated skills won't match what a practitioner with 100M+ in ad spend experience can encode. This is essentially 'knowledge-as-software' for the AI-native workflow era.

03 THE VERDICT
The timing is interesting—there's a clear gap and real demand emerging—but the window is narrow. Anthropic could build a first-party skills marketplace, or GitHub communities could commoditize free skills quickly. The opportunity is strongest if executed immediately by someone with genuine marketing domain expertise who can build a quality brand before the space floods. A solo creator could also just sell skills directly via Gumroad/Substack rather than building a full marketplace.
