01 THE IDEA

As Anthropic rolls out Claude Skills (customizable instruction sets stored as markdown files that persist across all chats), there is an immediate gap for non-technical users who want high-quality, domain-expert-crafted skills without building them from scratch. A business could package and sell pre-built Claude skills—for copywriting, legal review, financial analysis, HR, etc.—as downloadable products or subscription bundles, similar to how Notion template marketplaces emerged when Notion launched.

The barrier to creation is low (markdown files), but the barrier to making them genuinely expert-level is high. A skilled operator who understands both prompt engineering and a domain (e.g., conversion copywriting, medical coding, real estate comps) can produce skills that outperform generic ones and charge a premium. Distribution could be a Gumroad-style storefront, a subscription SaaS, or an agency model where skills are custom-built for clients.
