INDEX / MARKETPLACE
MCP App Store
A curated marketplace where developers can discover, one-click deploy, and manage MCP servers, getting a unique URL to paste into any MCP client.
▶ WATCH THE SOURCE SEGMENT — Model Context Protocol (MCP), clearly explained (why it matters)01 THE IDEA
The idea is a centralized App Store-style platform for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Right now, MCP servers live scattered across GitHub repos, requiring manual downloading, file-moving, and local configuration — a frustrating process even for technical users. This platform would aggregate all available MCP servers, show their GitHub code, and offer a one-click 'install/deploy' button that spins up the server in the cloud and returns a ready-to-use URL for the user to paste into their MCP client (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, etc.).
The business model could layer in freemium hosting (free tier for low-usage servers, paid tiers for higher throughput), a marketplace cut if MCP server creators charge for premium integrations, and/or a SaaS subscription for teams managing multiple MCP server deployments. As MCP adoption grows, this becomes the de facto discovery and deployment layer for the entire MCP ecosystem — similar to how npm became essential for Node.js or how the Chrome Web Store is to extensions.

03 THE VERDICT
This is a textbook 'picks and shovels' play on a fast-moving trend — the pain point is real, well-articulated, and widely felt right now. The category is genuinely new with no clear dominant player yet, giving a first-mover a real shot at owning the space. The core MVP (directory + one-click cloud deployment + URL generation) is buildable by a solo technical founder in weeks. The main risk is MCP itself being superseded, but even then the infrastructure and audience built transfer to whatever wins.
